蚊香豬 (かこうぶた, kaku buta) is a traditional Japanese folk toy that dates back to the Edo period (1603-1868). It is a small wooden toy shaped like a pig, with a hole in its back that holds a piece of mosquito-repelling incense, or katori senkō. The toy is designed to be placed on a desk or table and used to repel mosquitoes while providing a decorative element to the room.

According to folklore, the idea for the toy originated from a pig that was said to have been able to repel mosquitoes simply by walking through a room. The inventor of the toy, a craftsman named Ishida Denbei, took this idea and created the first kaku buta.

Today, the kaku buta is still popular in Japan and is often used as a decorative item or as a desk toy. It is also sometimes given as a gift, particularly to new homeowners as a way to ward off mosquitoes and bring good luck to the home.
